숯가마

Today the family went out to a 숯가마 (Sookama). I would relate a 숯가마 to a 찜질방 experience as it's the same concept: Relax and sweat.

There are about 6 clay/brick and mortar huts of varying heat. How they generate the heat is that they load one room with wood and brick it off and light the room. They have one room always bricked off and actively burning. When it is sufficiently heated, they take down the walls, remove the burnt remains, and repeat the heating process for another room.
